Every Body is a Summer Body

Navigating a journey of aligning as many actions as we can to nourish our mind, body, and soul can be difficult but the road to falling in love with yourself has to start right where you are. An study published in The L.A. Times found that only 30% of adults are happy with how they look. When we think about the fact that from the time we are first understanding conceptual beauty as children we are being convinced by society what “Beauty” actually is.

The more your facial features, body type, hair texture, or “perceived flaws” divert from mainstream America’s ideal of perfection than the LESS physically attractive we believe we are because of the reinforcement of one type of beauty in media. The problem with referencing the media as our standard of beauty is that the idea of beauty is always changing within culture. In the 90’s for example the average female model or actor on any given television show was tall and thin which mentally left an impression on people BEAUTIFUL women look this way.

The journey to embracing ourselves can be hard especially when the echoes of body critics who are sometimes even family and friends linger within our minds. But that journey doesn’t have to start with loving your flaws, it starts with acceptance. It starts with affirming what you see back in the mirror is GORGEOUS because it is. Remember every body is a Summer body including yours.
